The Siskiyou Media Council (SMC) is excited to announce the opening of our new office/filming studio located in Siskiyou County, in the city of Yreak on the College of the Siskiyous campus! As proud host to both YCTV Channel 4 and MCTV Channel 15, the SMC is committed to serving the community by upgrading our programming with HD transmissions, by adding viewable access to both channels on our website, and by revising our content to provide more of what people want to watch: local news and sports, community interviews, educational programs, as well as up-to-date emergency and transportation information. We are also proud to be expanding our viewing public through posts to our YouTube channel, and Facebook page.

Regular Board Meetings are held monthly on the first Thursday of the month. Please check out the “Current Year Meetings” page under “About” for the meeting locations and times.
Board meetings start at 5pm and generally last 1 hour. These meetings are open to the public. All public SMC records are available for inspection, by prior arrangement. Board meeting minutes are available on this website.

A Brief History:
Public access cable channel Yreka Community Television (YCTV4) was founded in 1978 and Mountain Community Television (MCTV15) was founded in 1998 by Siskiyou County residents dedicated to “encouraging and supporting the use of media for sharing thoughts, opinions and events by and for the people of Siskiyou County.”
MCTV15 was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2001. In 2007 the YCTV and MCTV merged and was restructured and renamed Siskiyou Media Council (SMC), with a broader vision that addressed emerging communication needs in Siskiyou County. Siskiyou Media Council continues to manage and operate YCTV4 and MCTV15 with vision to provide enhanced emergency notification and information with new state-of-the-art broadcast servers. These servers will reach more of Siskiyou beyond cable TV. With SMC on the COS Yreka Campus we are working a career pathways initiative with high school, college and adult education organizations across Siskiyou County.
